Aleste (アレスタ) is a series of science-fiction, vertically scrolling Shoot 'em Ups by Compile. The series originated on the MSX2 home computer and later received sequels for various Sega consoles.
While each game have it's own plot, with only the second game being a direct sequel, they are all connected by a similar gameplay, featuring lots of different weapons which are selected by picking up numbered capsules and upgraded in small increments with falling capsule power-ups. The games also feature bosses comprised of multiple cores to be destroyed.
