1940 is a series of military-themed, vertically-scrolling Shoot 'em Ups by Capcom.
Like the titles imply, the games are set during the final years of World War II. Instead of lives you have a fuel bar, which constantly depletes and must be refilled. By shooting specific waves of enemies, you are granted power-ups which can be cycled by shooting them, giving you more fuel or limited special weapons.
